Choosing the Right Water Heater for Your Park Ridge Home

When it comes to choosing a different type of water heater other than a conventional gas water heater for your residence, it’s easier than it’s been before! Several properties in Park Ridge typically feature gas tank water heaters, but today, you’re not limited. There are a lot of options on the market for you to pick from! Listed below are some different types of water heater systems so you can make an informed decision of which will be the most sound solution for your residence:

Tankless Water Heater:  A tankless water heater goes directly into your water line and it’s a huge a space saver. With that in mind, while tankless water heaters save you space, they’ll need to be serviced every 5 years and heat your water regardless of what temperature it is.

Electric Water Heater: These work similarly to gas water heaters but they’re powered by electricity rather than gas. Depending on tank size your home needs, this option may be a very affordable choice. It can even save you money on your monthly energy costs.

Solar Water Heaters: Just as the name implies, these systems harness the energy emanating from the sun to heat your water.

Tankless Coil and Indirect Water Heaters:  Both of these water heaters go directly into your home’s heating system in order to heat the water. They provide heated water without a tank. The water is heated as it flows through the heating coil or heat exchanger in the furnace or boiler.

Heat Pump Water Heaters:  This uses electricity to move heat from one place to another instead of generating heat directly. The process is much like the opposite of how a refrigerator works. It pulls heat from surrounding air and then places the warm air into a tank to heat the water.

There are three main factors to consider when choosing which water heater will be the best option for your property in Park Ridge:

Size: What size water heater will your home require to meet the demand? Bear in mind that bigger doesn’t always mean better. You could be wasting money on something you don’t need. Conversely, a unit that’s too small will also be inadequate because you’ll constantly be running out of hot water since it will not be able to meet the demand. The size of the tank can also be contingent on the amount space is available for installation.

Energy Efficiency:  You can save money on your monthly utility bills with a new water heater. With today’s energy efficient models on the market, you can heat your water using less energy consumption and that saves money.

Costs:  The bottom line comes down to costs and how much you and your family have budgeted for a new water heater.  Capps Plumbing offers discounts on water heater options. Call Capps to discuss your options today.

Signs Your Need To Replace Or Repair Your Water Heater

A water heater can last usually 8-12 years.  If your water heater is beyond that 12 year point, it’s time to have it replaced it before it breaks down. Water heaters in Park Ridge, Illinois typically are available in three options: gas water heaters, electric water heaters, and tankless water heaters.  In addition to the age of your water heater, below are some other common signs that it could indicates it’s time to replace your water heater:

  1. When running your water, the water has a rusty appearance instead of clear
  2. The water looks muddy or sandy. This could indicate accumulation at the bottom of the tank
  3. If you find a metallic taste or smell in the water when drinking it, this could mean that your tank is breaking down and metal flakes are flaking off into your water.
  4. You get warm water when it’s running but not hot water. First, make sure that your thermostat is set between 120 and 140 degrees. If it is set accordingly but the water is still not getting hot, call Capps.
  5. You’re hearing loud and unusual noises coming from your water heater.
  6. The number of times and the space of time between when repairs are done to your water heater could indicate that your water heater might be on the verge of a break down.  You can count on Capps Plumbing to always give you expert advice when it comes to whether it would make more sense to repair your water heater or replace the water heater.
  7. If you see leaks around the bottom of your water heater, this is a clear sign that action is required immediately. Your unit needs to be replaced. Even with small leaks, these cracks can rupture and cause massive water damage in little time. If you see a leak or notice water pooling around your water heater, don’t hesitate to call Capps to get the unit replaced as soon as possible to avoid water damage.

The Capps team did a great, professional job re-routing my sump line to an area with better access and delivering a solution that can overflow (outside) if the new (wider) underground line happens to freeze up. Water now flows to a bubble box drain that will dissipate into my yard. I’ll have much greater peace-of-mind next winter knowing the thought and care that went into the solution from the Capps team.

Water heater sprung a bad leak and three hours later my new heater was in. Knew the prices and they were fair. Excellent workmanship. Neat, polite, friendly. Installed some extra valves and pointed out coupons I could use on the web site. Plumbers all seem to use a price schedule which is why I did not rate the experience 5 stars. That said, NO service using such a schedule would get 5 stars from me so these guys are about as good as it gets. i would definitely call them again.
