Outstanding service once again! This time Chris had his apprentice, Ryan, who took direction well and was very respectful and courteous. A delight to see in today’s world! They removed and installed a hot water heater and did some minor repair on a bathroom faucet. Chris and Ryan worked well together and were professional and pleasant to deal with. Very knowledgeable with water heaters and answered all the questions that I had. No problems with the work they completed and they cleaned up and left no mess. Top notch! We could have paid less with someone else but would rather pay a little bit more with a company that you can trust with their proven quality service.

Capps has been our go-to for plumbing needs for the past year; they have always been great! Super quick response time and very efficient! We had Mike and Nick out at our house yesterday and they were wonderful. They figured out what was going on and solved our problem. I definitely recommend this company and will be using them in the future.

We just moved in to our new house and had a plumbing issue right away. Capps came highly recommended and they did not disappoint! We were able to schedule an appointment for the next day, everyone we spoke to was extremely nice and professional, and the plumbers were on time, explained everything, and got the problem resolved right away. We will certainly call them for any future needs and would recommend them to anyone!

I have used Capp’s Plumbing multiple times for various reasons. Sump pump, water heater, toilet installation and broken pipes. They call when on their way and have always been on time. Their employees are knowledgeable, courteous, honest and reasonable. I’ve used other plumbers before in the area and they don’t compare to the caring service Capps provides. Great plumbers!!

Choosing the Right Water Heater for Your Barrington Home

If you’re considering a different type of water heater rather than a conventional gas water heater, it is easier now than it ever has been before! Many homes in Barrington feature standard gas tank water heaters, but there are so many different options to choose from today! Below are some of the different types of water heater systems on the market so you can make an educated decision of which option will be the best for your home:

Tankless Water Heater:  A tankless water heater goes directly into your water line. This system is definitely a space saver. However, tankless water heaters do require service every 5 years and heat your water no matter what temperature it is.

Electric Water Heater: These units function very much like gas water heaters but they’re powered by electricity instead. Depending on size of the tank, this choice may be very economical and save you money on your monthly utility bills.

Solar Water Heaters: The name says it all, these systems harness the power of the sun to heat your water.

Tankless Coil and Indirect Water Heaters:  Both of these water heaters go directly into your home’s heating system in order to heat the water.

Heat Pump Water Heaters:  This system moves heat from one place to another and generates heat directly for the water.

There are many different factors to consider that can impact your decision of which water heater will best suit your home in Barrington:

Size: What tank size will your home require? Just because a tank is bigger, that doesn’t mean that it’s better and you could be spending more money by opting for something more than is necessary. That said, a unit that’s too small won’t be able to keep up with the demand for hot water. The size of the tank is also based on amount space that’s available for installation.

Energy Efficiency:  You can reduce your monthly utility bills with a new water heater. Energy efficient models will heat your water and consume less energy. That will save money.

Costs:  As per the usual, the main objective is getting your home what it needs as affordably as possible.  Capps Plumbing offers discounts on water heater options.

Signs Your Need To Replace Or Repair Your Water Heater

Typically, a water heater lasts roughly 8-12 years.  If your water heater has surpassed that 12 year marker, it’s time to replace it before it starts to break down.  Water heaters in Barrington, Illinois come in three options: gas water heaters, electric water heaters, and tankless water heaters.  In addition to the age of your water heater, below are some other common signs that warn that it’s time to replace your water heater:

  1. Water has a rusty appearance instead of clear when it’s running.
  2. The water looks muddy or sandy. This could be a sign of build up at the bottom of the tank
  3. If there’s a metallic taste or odor in the water when drinking it, this may indicate that your tank is starting to break down. Bits of metal are literally flaking off and getting into your water.
  4. The water gets warmer but not really hot. First and foremost, check that your thermostat is set between 120 and 140 degrees. If it is set at that range but the water still isn’t getting hot, contact Capps.
  5. If you hear loud and unusual noises coming from your water heater, get in touch with Capps.
  6. The frequency and the space of time between when repairs are done to your water heater may indicate that your water heater is starting to break down.  Capps Plumbing will always give you an honest and expert opinion on whether it would be more advisable to repair your water heater or replace the water heater altogether.
  7. If you are noticing leaks pooling around the bottom of your water heater, take immediate action. This indicates that your water heater is breaking down and it will require replacement right away. Even if the leak is small, these cracks can rupture and cause massive water damage in your home.  If you see leaking around your water heater, don’t hestitate. Call Capps and get the unit replaced as soon as possible to avoid a mess and potential water damage.

A FEW WORDS FROM JOE CAPPS…

When I started this company with my wife, Mary, back in 1996, I knew exactly what Capps Plumbing would be about. We firmly believe that when you are taking care of your biggest investment, your home, you should never take chances with those you choose to maintain it or provide needed repairs. We formed Capps Plumbing & Sewer as a model of what a plumbing company should be – dependable, capable, clean and courteous – and to do all this at prices that meet or beat anyone else out there. Twenty years later we still think about these goals every single day for every single job. There are not many companies you can call and deal directly with the owner. And like all of our ads say, we truly are family owned and operated. Our children are now at the company with us, and you may already know them – Deanna, Joe, Dan and Nick. We are all here for you providing 24/7/365 urgent service that our customers have grown accustomed to for the last 20 years.

My best to you,

Joe Capps
